Legal gun saves 2-month-old child

Here’s some more of the data you’re not supposed to consider while the deeply corrupt gun-control crusade marches on, courtesy of WBNS-TV in Ohio:
A Columbus man said that he fought back when a man tried to rob him at gunpoint in west Columbus Monday night.
Kelby Smith, 34, told police he was in the driveway of the home on Crescent Drive just before 9 p.m. when he was approached by a robber.
Smith said that he had his 2-month-old in a car carrier and had to shield him from the robber who held a gun at Smith’s head.
The suspect took Smith’s money and started to flee the scene as he pointed the gun back at Smith and his child.
That’s when Smith pulled out his own gun and fired at the robber.
The robber continued to run, but police said that a man fitting his description arrived at Mount Carmel West a short time later with a gunshot wound.
Smith has a concealed-carry permit, and WBNS reports the authorities “believe he was trying to defend himself,” while the perforated robber “could face charges if it’s determined he is the robbery suspect.”
But clearly it would be better to disarm the law-abiding citizens and leave the lives of their children at the mercy of brutal thugs, right? This guy was probably just pointing his gun back at the looted victims for dramatic emphasis, or maybe because he wanted them to see what a really neat gun he had. It would have been better to arm Kelby Smith with nothing but a cell phone, which he could have used to text the police for help, while keeping the robber engaged in clever conversation for a half-hour or so.
“More guns are not the answer,” said a tearful Governor Dannel Malloy today, while addressing the General Assembly of Connecticut about the National Rifle Association’s proposal to arm school staff and provide other enhanced security measures. This is objectively false. One more gun might very well have been “the answer” at Newtown. One more gun was the answer when a thug threatened the lives of Kelby Smith and his two-month-old child. If the gun-control zealots are not stopped, good people are going to lose more than their rights.
