A Generation to Get Guns "Off the Streets"
A Generation to Get Guns "Off the Streets"

It was Ronald Reagan who said, "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it onto our children in the bloodstream. The only way they can inherit the freedom we have known is if we fight for it, protect it, defend it and then hand it to them with the well taught lessons of how they in their lifetime must do the same."
During a recent interview with a local news station, San Diego Police Chief William Lansdowne said we can "it may take a generation but guns will eventually be taken off the streets through new laws like Senator Dianne Feinstein's proposed assault weapons ban legislation."
Remember, Feinstein claims she doesn't want to disarm or take anyone's guns but instead wants to "dry up the supply" of weapons over time.
The problem here is Lansdowne, like many other police chiefs around the country, is lumping criminal "street guns" in with the guns owned by law abiding citizens. There is a huge difference between the two. Feinstein's legislation affects everyone and doesn't do much to focus on criminals, who are the real problem with gun crime and guns on the street.
