The Occupy Wall Street Ugliness

The Occupy Wall Street Ugliness
"The Movement Has a Serious Jewish Problem"
by JWF 10/24/2011

As the Occupy Wall Street carnival rapidly fades toward irrelevance, those who've embraced it should never be able to live down the fact they cast their lot behind a vile band of anti-Semites.

From the teacher who vowed to run “Zionists Jews who run these big banks” out of the country to the dude who mocked and danced in the face of a yarmulke-topped “bum,” Occupy Wall Street must no longer deny it.

The movement has a serious Jewish problem.

But organizers are desperate to maintain that acts of bigotry are isolated, carried out by a small cadre of hoodlums who don’t represent the movement. Some have even suggested vocal Jew-haters are “plants” sent by folks who want to take Occupy down.

Sound familiar? Germans dismissed prewar Nazis as a harmless bunch of clowns, too.

Perhaps Sutherland, a self-described “international businessman,” was emboldened by the guy who this month threatened an older, yarmulke-wearing gentleman. “You’re a bum!”

“You can’t even speak English. Go back to Israel!”

Or, maybe he appreciated the message of Los Angeles Unified School District substitute teacher Patricia McAllister. She told Reason TV, with the urgency of a gal suffering from a gaping head wound:

“The Zionist Jews who are running these big banks and our Federal Reserve -- which is not run by the federal government -- they need to be run out of this country!”

She told Fox TV, “Jews have been run out of 109 countries throughout history, and we need to run them out of this one.” She was fired last week. Hooray?

Sutherland got props from a Queens woman who walked by the park with her 10-year-old son, expressing fear that her three kids, not Jews, didn’t have a prayer for the future. “I’m sorry,” she said. “I actually agree.”

The ugliness on the march is going viral. This month, a man trolled Zuccotti hoisting a sign that read, “Hitler’s Bankers.” He shouted, “Jews control Wall Street!”

It's not just Democrats who own this, The media does as well, for the most part.

Pathetically, they're still nostalgically embracing hardline aging Communists to rally support.

Seeger's voice first rose in the 1930s against Hitler. He met Woody Guthrie , Alan Lomax and Lead Belly, and began to advocate for migrant workers and miners in the 1940s. He stared down Sen. Joseph McCarthy and endured a blacklisting he simply shrugged away. In middle age, he was a key figure in the folk revival that produced Dylan and, later, the protests that helped shape modern America.

Really, this guy helped shape modern America? Well, I guess if Zuccotti Park is reflective of America.

Mark Steyn offers a nice rejoiner to the dusted-off Seeger hagiography.

“A guy who had integrity” is leftie code for “didn’t repudiate Stalin until half-a-century after the old monster had died”, as Seeger belatedly did in 2009. “Activist credentials” is the preferred New York Times euphemism for being reliably wrong on every single issue for the last 70 years, starting with his opposition to the Second World War. (Not to mention he ripped off Solomon Linda , the black South African author of “Wimoweh”, who died penniless. Because, unlike poor Mr Linda, Mr Seeger was shrewd enough to have a – what’s the word? – “corporation” to protect his business interests.)

But good for OWS at finally finding the perfect soundtrack for its fresh youthful idealism. I believe Pete serenaded the Zuccotti Park crowd with his searing protest song, “Where Have All The Showers Gone?”

Speaking of Communists, a man who lived under Soviet rule schools some of the OWS morons.

If ignorace is bliss, these are the happiest people in the world.
