Liberal Media Tries to Hand-Pick GOP Nominee - Again

As a conservative with some experience in presidential politics, it's more than amusing for me to watch left-of-center mainstream reporters and pundits — and even a few establishment-type Republicans — work overtime to lock the 2012 GOP contenders and potential contenders into the box of conventional wisdom.

That's nice of them, except conventional wisdom caught the last bus out of our unraveling republic a long time ago. As nature does indeed hate a vacuum, in its place stepped "any port in a storm."

As the tens of millions of Americans who do care about traditional values watch in horror as President Obama and his allies dismantle the tenets of those cherished values brick by brick, the last thing they care about is the alleged dictates of conventional wisdom as articulated or practiced by the mainstream media or certain entrenched Republicans.

So why would these two camps be pushing conventional wisdom so hard? Two reasons: wishful thinking and outright ignorance of the mindset of the conservative voter.

Not surprisingly, most of this false conventional wisdom is being directed at Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann.

With Perry the conventional wisdom tells us that "he's getting in the race too late," that "he won't be able to raise the money" and that "he can't possibly compete or win in New Hampshire." For Bachmann, the CW loudly proclaims, "She's from the House of Representatives and no one from the House can win the nomination or the White House."

Really? A growing number of voters who told CW to take a hike strongly disagree with those biased or ignorant assessments.

Again, the conventional wisdom that says Perry and Bachmann either can't compete or can't win is coming from the mainstream media or from certain Republicans with a competing agenda who are more than happy to leak such beliefs to "friends" within that compromised media.

The main reason, of course, as to why this conventional wisdom would be manufactured and then preached is fear. For many in the mainstream media who unethically worked to create the false narrative used to help elect Sen. Obama in 2008, there is a genuine fear of a general election match-up between their beloved Obama and either Gov. Perry or Rep. Bachmann.

Unlike some other GOP contenders, the policy differences between Obama and the Perry and Bachmann camps are razor sharp, distinct and growing.

Some in the mainstream media are pushing the unelectable conventional wisdom argument against Perry and Bachmann because they know, and fear, the American people will be able to quickly identify the differences between the two camps and then just as quickly do the math in their own heads as they ask themselves the Ronald Reagan question: "Am I better off now than I was four years ago?"

Of course, the answer is that except for the ever-expanding base of public and federal employees, almost no one is better off under the failed and far-left policies of President Obama.

Knowing that, and knowing that Obama — contrary to the mythical narrative — was elected in some measure because a significant number of conservatives sat out the 2008 election, the more the media and Republican opponents use "conventional wisdom" against Perry and Bachmann, the more these voters are going to hear Perry and Bachmann out.

Conventional wisdom is gone, the storm is raging and the American people are grabbing the tiller. It's about time.
