A follow-up to a story from last month: as Scott Shackford of Reason reports, “It appears as though the White House has decided that maybe the official biographies of other presidents are not the best place to campaign for President Barack Obama’s reelection.”

He’s referring to the weird, offensive, and sometimes wildly improbable little “Did you know?” notes added to the bottom of previous presidential biographies at the White House website, in an effort to awkwardly crowbar Barack Obama into their legacies.

For an example of really offensive Obama vandalism, consider the way Ronald Reagan’s biography was defaced: “In a June 28, 1985 speech Reagan called for a fairer tax code, one where a multi-millionaire did not have a lower tax rate than his secretary. Today, President Obama is calling for the same with the Buffett Rule.”

This deservedly led to widespread mockery of Obama, including an uproarious “Obama In History” stream on Twitter and Tumblr, in which the President was inserted into various moments throughout time, such as appearing onstage with the Beatles when they played the Ed Sullivan show:

“But as quietly as the Obama boasts appeared,” Shackford reports, “they have been removed. The bullet points are now gone from all the biographies on the White House website.” One of our long national nightmares is over.
