RUSH: So the inside-the-Beltway crowd is still wringing its hands today over the fact that there was no budget deal. The super committee failed to come to an agreement, and I'm blue in the face telling you that it behaved exactly as it was supposed to behave. It ended up doing exactly what it was supposed to do, and you're blue in the face hearing it. They were not supposed to come to an agreement. There was not supposed to be any kind of a deal. And, lo and behold, Obama held a five-minute press availability today. What did he do? He went out and blamed the Republicans. Mission accomplished! That was the whole point of this.

"Do-nothing Congress! A super committee that couldn't even come up with budget cuts and tax increases," that won't be implemented even 'til 2013. "They couldn't even do that!" And right on cue, there's Obama in front of the microphones and the cameras this morning saying, "Yep," and blaming the Republicans for it. According to Politico, Harry Reid's big contribution to the process was this. "In the thick of the negotiations, Reid ... visited Ted Kennedy's grave in Arlington National Cemetery with former Sen. Chris Dodd." Snerdley, I want you to listen to this. Tap him on the shoulder and listen to this. "In the thick of negotiations..." Snerdley's screening calls right now, and he doesn't listen to the show when that happens.

I want you to listen to this for when people call about it. "In the thick of the negotiations," Dingy Harry decided to have a Hillary Clinton/Eleanor Roosevelt moment. He took Chris Dodd; they went to Arlington National Cemetery; they wanted to commune with Senator Kennedy over what was happening. Chris Dodd "poured some whiskey on Kennedy's grave while Reid recited a prayer," I kid you not. This is reported in The Politico. The only thing missing was a waitress lying down on the grave with Chris Dodd then lying down or laying down on top of the waitress. Sort of a postmortem Dodd-Kennedy waitress sandwich.

So Dodd's pouring whiskey on the grave; Dingy Harry is reciting a prayer. Harry Reid told this story to some lobbyists. There were witnesses. That's how The Politico knows about it. These are the kind of people that we're dealing with. These are the leaders of our nation. These are the statesmen seeking guidance. They go to the grave of Senator Kennedy at Arlington and pour some whiskey on the grave while reciting a poem in the thick negotiation, and we know this again because Harry Reid bragged about doing this to a bunch of lobbyists to show them how committed he was to the process. I kid you not.

RUSH: Barack Obama went to New Hampshire today. Okay, so the super committee fails right on schedule, right on time. So Obama now, finally, time to get involved. See how this works? Obama's on vacation in Hawaii -- well, sorry. He's at some Asian-Pacific so called confab. But he's on vacation out there. Sends Moochelle off to NASCAR races with Jill Biden. She goes out there with Mrs. Biden and they both get booed and it's totally understandable why they would both get booed at a NASCAR race or anywhere else for that matter. Barack comes back on the day the super committee is designed to come up with no deal, now he's involved, now he hits the campaign trail. He's in Manchester, New Hampshire, this afternoon, Manchester Central High School. He was speaking about the American Jobs Act, his jobs bill that nobody will pass, not even his fellow Democrats. And during his remarks, a group of unidentified protesters interrupted him. He got heckled. Here's how that went down.

OBAMA: Before I came to school today, I had -- I had coffee -- (protesters yelling) -- well, that's okay. That's okay. (protesters yelling) Okay, guys. (protesters yelling) It's okay. Okay, it's okay. That's all right. Listen, the -- I'm gonna be talking about a whole range of things today, and I appreciate you guys making your point.

RUSH: Okay, so a little protest action against the president. How did that sound to you? Did that sound spontaneous, legitimate, and genuine, did the president sound upset by this? No, he didn't sound upset. He didn't sound surprised, either, did he? Not really. This is probably the way Newt Gingrich will make Wolf Blitzer react tonight. In case you just joined us Wolf Blitzer is preparing for Newt to insult him as the moderator of the debate tonight. He's rehearsing right now comebacks at Newt Gingrich in case Newt once again criticizes the media for the way they're handling these debates. Wolf Blitzer is rehearsing various retorts. Okay, so they got the protestors out of there or they got 'em to shut up, whatever happened, and Obama continued.

OBAMA: The essence of the American dream, which is if you work hard, if you stick to it, that you can make it, feels like that's slipping away. And that's not the way things are supposed to be, not here, not in America. (applause) This is a place where your hard work and your responsibility's supposed to pay off, supposed to be a big, compassionate country where everybody who works hard should have a chance to get ahead, not just the person who owns the factory, but the men and women who work on the factory floor.

RUSH: Ahhhh, here we go, time now for a little class warfare defined as the American dream. When Obama talks about the American dream, how many of you get the idea that he knows what he's talking about, by the way? Is the American dream simply this, that you work hard and your responsibility is supposed to pay off. If you work hard, you stick to it, you can make it? Is that the American dream? Is that what you've thought of as the American dream? That's how Obama describes the American dream, and then lets us all know what he really means by it when the people working on the factory floor get ahead, not just the person who owns the factory. So he's out there channeling Elizabeth Warren. Class envy. That's the American dream. That's what Obama hopes to promote here. And then, just as I said, when it comes to time to affix blame for there not being a deal...

OBAMA: We're tough. We're fighting back. We are moving forward and we are gonna get this right so that every single American has opportunity in this country. We are not gonna have an America in which only a sliver of folks have opportunity. We're gonna have an America where everybody has opportunity and that's gonna take some time. 'Cause our economic problems were weren't caused overnight and they won't be solved overnight.

RUSH: Translation: We didn't cause the problem; it's gonna take a while to fix it. That's blaming Bush. Our economic problems weren't caused overnight. We've had three and a half years and our economic problems have been exacerbated, they have been made worse, and it is the height of hypocrisy for Barack Obama to talk about people doing better. It's the height of hypocrisy for Barack Obama to talk about the country moving forward, a country where every American has opportunity. Opportunity is slipping away, as the private sector is dismantled. The more capital, the more money, the more opportunity taken out of the private sector and transferred to government, the less opportunity there is for people in the private sector. It's just that simple.

You cannot expand the government at the expense of the private sector and sit there at the same time and talk about expanding opportunity. He's killing it. Barack Obama and his economic policies have and are destroying economic opportunity. In fact, fewer people are working on the factory floor thanks to Obama. That's the point that needs to be made. He sits out there and he talks about the lack of fairness for people on the factory floor. There aren't any people on the factory floor! There are fewer and fewer people on the factory floor precisely because of Barack Obama. That's the retort; that's the reply; that's the answer.
